Best of 2011: Opera & Dance
CultureCritic | 21.December.2011 | 11:17
This year brought a taste of the East to UK, with productions transportingaudiences to Bangladesh, China, India and Japan all featuring in the top
ten. The Nutcracker and Madame Butterfly proved you still can’t beat a
classic, whilst a British cast brought Beethoven’s only opera, Fidelio, to
life. The top spot proved the revival of girl power does not lie solely in
the hands of Little Mix, as Rebecca Evans and Ann Murray sent the critics
wild as the leads in Benjamin Britten’s adaptation of The Turn of the Screw.
