Best of 2011: Theatre

CultureCritic | 21.December.2011 | 10:14
In a year of phone hacking, super-injunctions, riots and the ‘squeezed middle', theatre has, as ever, provided many with a welcome escape, and some of the year's most popular productions have been comedies. Topping the list is a musical version of Roald Dahl's much loved children's tale Matilda, closely followed by the acclaimed Noises Off. It hasn't all been light-hearted though, with war, feminism and mass murder all creeping into the top ten, alongside the classics Shakespeare, Miller and Pinter of course...
