Caro at Chatsworth
Opens: 28/03/2012 Closes: 01/07/2012
Chatsworth House, Derbyshire
A programme of Caro exhibitions staged across the region accompany this rather spectacular centerpiece show, exhibiting huge works in steel by the great British sculptor, now in his 80s. Chatsworth's green acres and Baroque mansion should provide a compelling backdrop to his stark modernist forms from the last 40 years.

Guardian“An adventure playground for the mind...” The pleasure of the display comes from such interactions between art and the spirit of place, and from your own dialogue with Caro's teasing contrivances...
.
The Arts Desk“Brilliantly choreographed and vividly memorable...” Caro’s sculptures are grand, but also almost alarmingly approachable, huge but also paradoxically human in scale...
.
The Telegraph“Antagonistic energy between work and setting is surprisingly satisfying...” This thoughtfully installed mini-survey — the first solo show for an artist at Chatsworth — confirms that he possesses a robust and original artistic voice. Caro is the best British sculptor since Henry Moore...
.
Financial Times“Might dismay Caro purists...” As this useful survey shows, his art has moved on too – even to the extent of colonising, for a few months at least, a green and resolutely pre-industrial baroque landscape...
