The Observer“It is hard to imagine a better choice to curate the British museum...” Perry's humour enriches the whole experience, coupled with his superb insights into the minds of unknown craftsmen stretching back a million years...
.
New Statesman“Compact but memorable exhibition...” Perry's 'objets', with their tutti-frutti colours, seem to light up the dusty exhibits placed next to them, breathing new life into old bones...
.
Time Out“A surprisingly respectful display of the museum's artefacts...” Perry gently insinuates his perversions upon the institution, from within. He lowers the tone with a smile, through the humour and double-take found in a pair of ancient-looking pilgrims beladen with mobile phones, iPods and hand guns, for instance..
.
Guardian“Perry largely pulls it off...” The show is full of wonderful things. His own iron sculptures of male and female pilgrims (with their swag of sewing machines, mobile phone necklaces, boomboxes and babies) have an ethnographic look, and are a fitting sort of homeless pastiche...
.
The Telegraph“A mad smorgasbord of world history with a heartfelt message...” His curation is carefully cut to show how, fascinatingly, the spiritual and tactile worlds have gone hand-in-hand in almost every other world culture except our own...
.
this is london“Wretched little show...” I'd wager that had he not been so brazen and cunning as to let Claire take the lead, the art world would never have noticed him...
