It's inspired me to get around to reading some Russian literature, finally.

Solid stuff. Nick Cage does a great job, and his lack of self-awareness needed impinge on your enjoyment. There are a couple of real Falling Down moments, and those are the most entertaining.

It was okay, but come on - it was nothing new either. Hardly surprising, all though the lead character portrayed the unhinged rookie stereotype in an admirably nuanced way.

Parannoying Activity. What a drag! The plot was generally unsurprising and the two victims of the paranormal activity were thoroughly aggravating. The best and most realistic turn would have been if the girlfriend had flipped and smashed the camera to bits within the first half hour. It would have spared us the overbearing domestic tension, which was far and away the most tangibly evil constant.

This is a unique and funny film. Afterward, I did wonder if I was enjoying it partly just because it was making me feel like I was clever. But it is amusing how audacious Matt Damon's character is. Plus, I don't know how many comedy's about corporate crime in the corn industry there are. This is certainly a good one.

That music videos article is pretty great. There are some great ideas about what could have been... like a psychotic, cross-dressing Bruce Springsteen...

As convincing as an episode of Scoobie Doo. Highlights include: Kim Catrell's "English" accent, the photoshopped pictures of the former Prime Minister in his youth and the old local who tells Ewan McGregor about what happened to the last ghost writer.

New Tim Burton sounds like it could be okay, actually, Hope he doesn't slather the stop motion with CGI though. There was a bit of that in Corpse Bride, but not too much.

23.March.2010 | 15:56Autechre - Oversteps
The Warp sound might be very dated now, but the stuff that was good then still holds up - even if the excessive disjointed bits do sound silly. The new Autechre seems to all blend into one, and makes good wallpaper music.

Not frightening, but entertaining. The three-story with a wraparound narrative has a good payoff. Although having one of the play's ghouls come out and bow at the end was hardly going to send me home to a sleepless night.
