An astronaut’s paranoia may prove to be justified in this film by Duncan Jones (son of David Bowie), starring Sam Rockwell and the voice of Kevin Spacey. A sci-fi that doesn’t depend on CGI, made by a director who’s chosen not to trade on his superstar father’s name. How refreshing.

Music and theatre collide - but no need to fear, this is not Mamma Mia. Kicking off Manchester International Festival, Punchdrunk and Damon Albarn team up on this walk-through theatre experience, telling the story of American pop music. With five floors, special effects and music by Kronos Quartet it is apparently unsuitable for those of a nervous disposition. So keep your cool.
