Alonzo King Lines Ballet

Opens: 26/08/2010 Closes: 29/08/2010 Festival Theatre, Edinburgh

This San Francisco-based international touring group makes its UK debut with an engaging double bill. Dust and Light honours the lyrical intricacies of composers Arcangelo Corelli and Francis Poulenc, while Rasa is a surprising collaboration between contemporary ballet and classical tabla rhythms, aided by Grammy winner Zakir Hussain.

Guardian“The monotony of the work's scale becomes numbing...” We get little sense of the dance developing with the deeper structures of the music, and no sense of a final destination. King's choreography is easy on the eye, but it's all too easy on the brain as well...
