David et Jonathas

Opens: 17/08/2012 Closes: 20/08/2012 Edinburgh International Festival
Expect fire and brimstone from French baroque ensemble Les Arts Florissants, who take their name from another opera by 17th-century composer Charpentier. That's not to say that they haven't moved with the times - this tragic reimagining of the Old Testament features a rotating stage, a Mediterranean setting and updates the action to the early 20th century.
