Ivan Putrov - Men in Motion
Opens: 27/01/2012 Closes: 29/01/2012
Sadler's Wells, London
This does precisely what its title suggests by paying balletic homage to the male form. Led by former Royal Ballet principal Putrov, it features some of his prestigious chums including Royal Ballet star Sergei Polunin and Mariinsky Ballet principal Igor Kolb. Very talented men in motion, then.Page [1]
Financial Times“Less than convincing...” The sadness is that this event had good ideas, good intentions and performers. It came out of the oven too soon...

.
The Observer“Men became spectres, spirits and evanescent objects of desire...” Putrov set out to illustrate the emergence of the male dancer as a star in his own right, rather than merely an adjunct to the ballerina...
.
The Arts Desk“'Men in Emotion' would be a more apt title...” In the wayward circumstances, this is a skimpy evening to look at, yet - if only the orchestra were better - it’s aurally intriguing...
.
Guardian“Real intelligence and surprising moments of passion...” What's impressive about the evening, aside from its original choice of material, is its high production values with live music and a set commissioned from artist Gary Hume for Putrov's own new work Ithaka...
.
this is london“Presents a vision of talent and beauty cannibalising themselves...” There are striking passages - like the intimately simple waltzes between the men which end with Sillis throwing himself foetally into Putrov's arms - but too much stodge between them...
.
The Independent“Slight evening of dance...” With Ithaka, Ivan Putrov has created a ballet in which everyone loves Ivan Putrov...
