This folky 19th-century opera is based on the Brothers Grimm tale and composed by Humperdinck, with a libretto by his sister, Adelheid Wette. A new translation reaches the UK, with 22 choral children and a 65-strong orchestra contributing to a dark, if family friendly, evening at the opera.
