Damon Albarn wants you to get naked for opera, or at least more casually attired. ENO’s new scheme is offering one hundred of the best seats for four of its shows, for just £25 this season, including Phillip Glass’ The Perfect American. Hoping to entice a younger audience, they’re promising pre-show talks, hip bars and the chance to mingle with the cast. The Telegraph“The programme at the ENO is poorly-named...” I welcome a new initiative by ENO the slogan... but “Undress at the Opera” might be counterproductive – it makes the extraordinary sound ordinary, and turns opera into an everyday sort of a thing, rather than something exceptional and magical..
