Seabear’s constituent parts are achingly familiar: an Icelandic collective making orchestral, folk-inflected indie with a distinctly ‘homemade’, twee, beatific bent. Great. Fortunately for Seabear, their songs are really rather excellent. We Built a Fire is their second album.

MusicOMH“A wholly organic and breathtaking work of synergistic songcraft...” We Built A Fire is a decidedly more full and lush sounding record than its predecessor. As such, Seabear may have lost a bit of their homemade arts-and-crafts appeal, but the full-band sound suits them well...

Drowned In Sound“A giant leap forward...” It’s an interesting exploration of the beauty and the beast juxtaposition, even if recurring symbols of crooked teeth, falling leaves and unforgiving weather are a touch overused by the end of the album’s eleven tracks...
