The Dark Side of Love
Opens: 26/06/2012 Closes: 08/07/2012
Roundhouse, London
If proof was needed that London's youth aren't always to be found hooded on street corners, this summer finds them gathered beneath the iconic Roundhouse stage. As part of LIFT2012 a company of teens from the capital's most deprived areas will enact scenes from literature's most tragic love stories, under the watchful eye of Brazilian director Renato Rocha.

Guardian“Massively atmospheric...” The young performers are astonishing: volatile but never out of control, searingly passionate and yet always forensic. But, for all its strengths and visual swagger, this frustratingly disjointed piece never quite delivers...
.
Financial Times“A vivid, stylised and physical piece of theatre...” Though the staging is immensely evocative and the performances are impressive and bravely intimate, the piece struggles for cohesion. The text is the main problem...
.
The Telegraph“Wake up, rockers, you don’t know what you’re missing...” A weirdly beautiful and original fantasia that, for sheer imagination, knocks most modern opera into a cocked hat...
.
Whatsonstage.com“Ethereal and edgy, traditional and modern...” The Dark Side of Love could very easily have slipped into pretension. The young performers' intensity and excellence ensure that this piece stays on the right side of that line...
